I have just seen the literally most frightful, frightening film one could imagine, about dealing with terrorist threats of WMD in the form of hidden nuclear bombs. “Unthinkable” (or “No Limit” in the … French (!) version) is not a recent release; it was first shown in 2010. You may have seen it. I hadn’t, but now that I have, I consider it a must-see : a superb script, a totally credible scenario with great actors (including Samuel L. Jackson), it is the ultimate wake-up call for all us, potential targets for terrorists. If, like me, you still wonder about Dick Cheney’s approval of torture by water-boarding, to get terrorists to reveal information necessary to avert even non-nuclear explosions, this film makes water-boarding look like teasing rather than torture.
Naturally, I am not about to spoil it all for you by revealing the story. But while you will be appalled by the realism, the cruelty and the credibility of this film, it will reinforce a fact which many prefer to ignore or deny : behind Radical Islamist terrorism is the blindfaithblindfolly of religious fanaticism. It is not a film you will enjoy; there is no “happy ending”. Once you have seen it, you will understand why this post does not end with our usual mantra, “Ridenda Religio”, but an emphatic, albeit wishful, …
D-E-L-E-N-D-A RELIGIO

I shall not put radical islamism terorism in the category of religious fanaticism because Islam is not a religion : its only rule, the Koran is too stupid, too full of contradictions to be considered as inspired by a God.
For the other religion the doubt is a little more allowed … chiefly because they are not directly dangerous.
So we have to treat Islam as nihilists, etc … It allows more efficient methods.

Before you make such a distinction between Muslim and Jewish believers, look up the meaning of “argumentum ad hominem”. Both their creeds are religions whether as believers they are dangerous or not. The major point you are missing, mon ami, is that Radical Islamic terrorists are motivated not just by the lust for power, money, fame but because they believe they are doing the will of Allah.

But Frank, I am missing Nothing : islamic terrorists are effectively good practising persons as they obey the Koran. That’s why we must not stop from repeating that the Koran with all its contradictions can not be inspired by any god ! Islam is not a religien

Of course the Koran is not inspired by any god, or even God. No “Sacred Scripture” is, for the simple reason that “God” – and therefore Allah, like Yahweh – does not exist. Men invented God and they created their different religions with their silly beliefs, rules and rituals. Religions are real; “God” is not. It seems as though you are trying to prove that Judaism is a religion but that Islam is not. But both are human inventions and both are founded on illusions.

??? Ah Franck, I hope you remember my position on Judaism : The best way to stop the three main monotheist “religions” is that Jews confess their trick …
But we are not in a philosophical debate at this time ; we have to face urgencies, for our way of living, for our life, etc … ONLY because of islam ! The other “religions” can continue their “cinema” ! Bof, it’s stupid, but not directly dangerous
Too many people dare not even look at the koran because of “the liberty to think and to believe”. They never red the call for murders that are in that book.
I had some hopes that Donald denounced the monstrosities of the koran …
Now, I am driven to wait for Germans, Nazis …
Instead of telling that islam is not a religion, I agree that it’s more indisputable to say that koran has to be forbidden, what I said many times in this blog …
